Upgraded to the next version of CKS:EBE

http://blog.thekid.me.uk

I have upgraded my blog to, what will be, the next release of the CKS:EBE WSS feature. This will be the Beta2 release and should be available very soon.

Due to popular demand, I have taken the opportunity to make the full contents of posts available through my RSS feed. I had originally restricted the contents due to problems with the OOTB SharePoint feed. These are now fixed in the CKS:EBE feed and so it should be fine now.

I would appreciate comments or feedback if you notice any problems with either the Blog site in general or the RSS feed.

Thanks, Vince

woohoo thanks for making full text available for your feed. I've already setup my blog over at www.sharepointnick.com using the ootb blog template. Is it easy to migrate over to CKS:EBE? Thanks Nick

Hi Nick, Yep its really easy (I would say that!). Really though, download the CKS:EBE .wsp from http://www.codeplex.com/CKS and deploy the solution. The CKS:EBE is implemented as a feature and so you should just be able to activate it from the 'Site Features' in site settings. This also means that you can de-activate it and go back to your original blog. Probably the best thing to do (as I did to test the Beta2) is to take an export of your current blog and get it working on a dev server. Add the CKS:EBE and see what happens...it will work ;-) This would also give you the opportunuity to create/modify one of the themes before activating it on your live site. As always, I would recommend a backup as it is still beta. - Vince

I applied this to a blog on our Intranet. With the default blog template, comments are created by the person logged in and that is the create user name that automatically gets applied. With this blog template it is saved by System User and when comments are created you have to manually specify user name. Can user name be automatically used so users dont have to type them in manually (or potentially spoof other users) ?
